Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Regulatory Council (Council) participated in the above exhibition by arranging a stall to provide knowledge for students who are following A/L science stream, and to the people who are working in industrial and medical field of ionizing radiation and for awareness of the general public in X-ray images used for disease identification and safety of ionizing radiation.

In the Council exhibition stall, exhibits were displayed and posters were used to educate the above personnel on activities conducted by the Council.

Exhibits displayed at Council stall included

1. Model to explain basics of ionizing radiation and measurements of radioactivity & shielding effects

2. Radiological emergency equipment

3. Instruments used for physical protection of high activity radioactive sources

4. Methods for reduction of doses to workers.

During the exhibition students & public were able to get knowledge on regulatory control programme established in Sri Lanka, measurement of radiation, radiation shieldings, X-ray machines and their safety features, use of measuring equipment in case of radiological emergencies and physical protection instruments used for security of high activity radioactive sources.
