Consultation of public and relevant stakeholders on new projects or regulatory practices

As per the Sections 11. (e) and 12. (b) of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Act, No. 40 of 2014, provisions have been given to the Council to share projects and regulatory information with and also to consult public and relevant stakeholders on regulatory process and safety, health and environmental aspects of regulatory practices.

Therefore, we are happy to provide information as and when required and when we need consultation on the public and relevant stakeholders.

Draft National Policy of Sri Lanka on Radioactive Waste Management

The attached Draft Radioactive Waste Management Policy is prepared by the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Regulatory Council (Council) as per the provisions given under section 54 of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Act No.40 of 2014 and based on IAEA Nuclear Energy Series, No. NW-G-1.1, IAEA, Vienna, (2009) on “Policies & Strategies for Radioactive Waste Management” and other international NORMs.

Therefore, the person who are intended to provide any comments, views or recommendations of this draft policy, please be good enough to submit such comments.

The Council will take actions to include or further discuss constructive suggestions given on this draft.
